All Things Watermelon

All Things Watermelon
Watermelon, watermelon, watermelon! Oh watermelon! I'm currently in love with everything that has anything to do with watermelon or anything with a watermelon print! Just give me all of it!

Watermelon to me is summer and warmth and just happiness, jeez, that sounds like a speech Olaf from Frozen  would make but I'm okay with that (I'm going to presume you're on that bandwagon already and get what I'm saying if not play this video)!

Here are some of my favourite watermelon printed things that I've come across!

The tote bag is from Penneys/Primark (I shop both so I never know which to refer to it as...) and not that I ever really use tote bags, I have to say I still want it, it will be used to carry something over the course of summer, I promise!

The shorts are the cutest and make me feel summery, I've seen numerous pairs of shorts with a watermelon print and I'm sure I'll get the courage to actually wear shorts at some stage this summer, Ireland does not allow for sunshine very often so we'll see how that goes!

Watermelon mojitos sound amazing, so you know I'm going to test them out at some point, might even make a post about that too! They just look so refreshing! Yuuummm!
I've seen plates similar to this one from Anthropologie and think it would be lovely for desserts and barbecues, just summer evenings in general!

Finally to the tootsies, socks are always good, so you know summery prints on socks are just great! And as for that Essie nail varnish, having never tried an Essie nail varnish I might take the leap with this watermelon coloured one!

Are you liking the watermelon phenomenon as much as me or what is your go to summer print at the moment?

Unusual Family Sundays

Family Sundays can be quite the weird occasion in my house when they want to be. I think our "unique qualities" come out when we're together, if you know what I mean. Our 'weird' comes out.

Photo found on Pinterest, Pinned to my Beautiful Moments board, originally from chromamesilly.com

My sister came home for the weekend, she's currently the on the other side of the country on a six month work placement as part of her college degree in something science related, atoms, molecules and the like are NOT my forte but she's my sister and I guess I have to like her even if I do picture her covered in goo 90% of the time. That's life. However, I digress, given that all four of us were in the same house on the same day we obviously went about preparing a good ole Sunday dinner sit down feast.

My sister has been surviving on a lot of pasta and rice so she was craving both mashed and roast potatoes, we had both, along with some whiskey smoked baked ham and a mountain of veg and it was yummy. I've no photos cause I didn't think of it, just think typical Sunday dinner-esqe things, thanks!

But once dinner is finished, that's when things get weird. We sit around, talking, when we were younger poop jokes and references where a constant, comedian Billy Connolly has a lot to answer for when I think about it. This particular Sunday there happened to be an almost deafening sing off between my brother and sister. A torrid affair really.
He was bellowing Time To Say Goodbye - Andrea Bocelli style.
Whilst she was simultaneously singing (being the operative word) The Ballad of Arthur Darvill as sung by Arthur Darvill to the tune of Frozen's Let It Go on BBC Radio One's Matt Edmondson show a few weeks back, its great and really funny if you're a Doctor Who / Broadchurch / Arthur Darvill fan. You can check out the video here
I'll let you picture that for a moment, it was quite the painful experience for my poor ears, better yet play the two videos at the same time and you'll really know what I mean!
From there we proceeded to sing the theme tune to The Fresh Prince of Bel Air together as well as Smash Mouth's All Star and catching up on funny YouTube videos, like moments from the Graham Norton and Jimmy Fallon shows, I am currently in love with Emma Stone and her lip-sink battle is the best!

Like I said it's all a bit odd, but it's family and while I'd be cautious to bring anyone in on it straight away, you do presume that everyone has those unusual moments, whether it be on a Sunday or any other day of the week.

Care to share you're 'unusual' family moments? Make me feel almost normal about mine?

Taking it easy

Today is certainly a lazy Saturday kind of day, I mean hiding under the duvet, drinking ALL the tea and watching sappy films.

It's raining outside and I worked a 15 hour day yesterday and it's safe to say I'm all tuckered out, so I think staying in my pajamas a couple of hours longer than most functioning adults on a Saturday is okay! And it's okay for you too if that's what you are doing! In fact I hope we are all in our pajamas, hiding under cosy blankets, taking it easy.

Right now I'm snuggled up in my bed, watching Letters to Juliet, drinking tea and snacking on Greek yogurt and oats, safe to say I'll be here for a while!
